Olympic Triathlete David Hauss Poised for Antigua's Rohrman 13K Trail Race Challenge

David Hauss Set to Electrify the Rohrman 13k Trail Race in Antigua

In the heart of Antigua's vibrant sports scene, the upcoming Rohrman 13k trail race is poised to capture the attention of the athletic world, thanks to the participation of Olympic triathlete David Hauss. Scheduled for August 25, this event promises to be a spectacular showcase of endurance and skill, set against the lush backdrop of Antigua’s picturesque landscapes.

David Hauss, a name synonymous with exceptional athleticism, has an illustrious career that spans both triathlon and trail running. Born in Paris in 1984, Hauss's journey in the sports world has been nothing short of remarkable. He made a significant mark at the London 2012 Olympics, securing a commendable fourth place in the men’s triathlon. His transition to trail running has been equally impressive, with victories at prestigious events like the UTMB World Series and the Trail de Bourbon, where he set a record ascent on Piton des Neiges.

The Rohrman 13k trail race, part of the broader AUA Rohrman event, will challenge participants with a route that winds through Morris Bay, ascends Cade Peak and Boggy Peak, and concludes with a scenic finish at Ffryes Beach. Hauss's participation is expected to draw a crowd, inspiring both local athletes and international spectators.

Joining Hauss are other notable athletes such as Aurelien Raphael, Stephane Poulat, and Benjamin Sanson, each bringing their own unique strengths to the event. Raphael, an accomplished triathlete with a career spanning over a decade, has garnered multiple ITU gold medals and notable victories, including a recent win at the 2022 Arena Games Triathlon in Munich. Poulat, known for his consistent performances in international triathlon circuits, and Sanson, a master of open water swimming, are set to add to the competitive spirit of the weekend.

Rory Butler, President and Founder of the Rohrman Sports Association, expressed his enthusiasm about the athletes' participation, stating, “We are honored to welcome David Hauss, Aurelien Raphael, Stephane Poulat, and Benjamin Sanson to the Rohrman Trail Race and Triathlon events. Their involvement not only elevates the race but also embodies the spirit of athleticism and perseverance that the Rohrman stands for.”

This year’s Rohrman is dedicated to the late Andre Simon, a founding member of the event, and will include a variety of competitions such as triathlons, a road walk/run, and a swim event, all designed to showcase the diverse athletic talent in the region and promote sports development and tourism in Antigua and Barbuda.

The event, spanning two days on August 24 and 25, will feature 10 triathlons on the first day and a combination of an 8k swim, 10k road run, and the 13k trail race on the second day, ensuring a full weekend of athletic excellence.

As the community and sports enthusiasts around the world look forward to this event, the presence of athletes like David Hauss and his peers promises to make the 2024 Rohrman 13k trail race a memorable and inspiring event for all.
