Where it is
La Paz, Baja California Sur, Mexico
Is this your race?
A sprint is the friendliest triathlon distance there is. You swim a bit under a kilometre, cycle about the length of a commute, then jog a 5K. Details for the 2027 edition are not yet confirmed by an official source, so treat everything here as a starting point and check the official page for the date, start area and rules. Beginner fit 5/5: Sprint baseline 5, no adjustments because the swim venue, weather and course details are not yet confirmed.
✅ You’ll love it if…
- You want a first triathlon that feels doable, with a swim under 1 km, a 20 km bike and a 5 km run.
- You like the idea of combining a race with a few days in Baja California Sur.
- You are happy to learn as you go, with a little flexibility while 2027 details are confirmed.
⏳ Build up first if…
- Open water is new to you. Swim conditions for 2027 are not confirmed, so a few practice swims outdoors will help a lot.
- You have not ridden a bike regularly yet. Aim for a few comfortable 20 km rides before race day.
- You want certainty about course and conditions before booking. Wait for the official race page, which should confirm the details.

The course, demystified
Sprint distances for this event are 750 m swim, 20 km bike and 5 km run. The venue type, course layout and elevation have not been verified, so use the official race page once it is published as your source for maps and rules.
Respira y flota (breathe and float) — the start is the part that feels biggest, and then it settles. 750 m is roughly 15 to 20 minutes of easy swimming for many beginners. We could not verify the swim venue, current or water temperature for 2027, so check the official page for the swim area and whether wetsuits are allowed or advised.
A 20 km ride is a very approachable first bike leg. We could not verify the total climbing or the road surface, so check the official course map and rules for any bike requirements. A steady, comfortable pace is plenty, and a bike in good working order is the main thing.
The finish is a 5 km run. Your legs may feel wobbly for the first few minutes after the bike, which is completely normal and passes quickly. The surface, aid stations and cut-off times were not verifiable, so check the athlete guide when it appears.
