Moonlight Triathlon Brings Thrilling Nighttime Adventure to Carbon County

Discover the Thrill: Moonlight Triathlon Lights Up Carbon County

In the heart of summer, when the sun dips below the horizon and most are winding down, a group of spirited athletes in Carbon County are just getting started. This year, the Moonlight Triathlon made a grand return, rekindling the nocturnal magic that had captivated many, including the young and determined Joel Seeley.

A Nostalgic Revival

Joel's journey with the Moonlight Triathlon began in his youth, racing in the Lunatic Triathlon, an event that left a lasting impression. With the original founder no longer in the area, Joel felt a pull to bring this unique event back to life. Collaborating with the Southeast Utah Health Department, he aimed to create a summer highlight that would keep his community active and engaged.

Racing Under the Stars

The event kicked off with the children's race at 8 p.m., a delightful scene as the first 30 registrants, sponsored by SEUHD, dashed through the night. As the clock struck 10, adults took to the stage, each athlete a blend of nerves and excitement, ready to conquer the triathlon under a starlit sky.

Unforgettable Performances

The results were nothing short of inspiring. In the kids' races, young athletes like Uriah Trostle and Drew Arthur set impressive times, each pushing through the darkness with determination. The adult segment saw Team Red Bull clinch the first spot with a remarkable time of 54:50, followed closely by Team TriFecta and Monson Loveless.

A Community Ignited

This event wasn't just about times and medals; it was a celebration of community and the unyielding spirit of its members. From the youngest participants to the seasoned athletes, the Moonlight Triathlon served as a reminder of the power of sports to unite and inspire.
