ETSU Bucs Shine at the Women's Collegiate Triathlon National Championship

In the sweltering heat of Clermont, Florida, the East Tennessee State University (ETSU) women's triathlon team showcased their resilience and skill, securing an impressive eighth-place finish at the Women's Collegiate Triathlon National Championship on November 9, 2024. The event was a true test of endurance and spirit, with temperatures soaring near 100 degrees.

Stellar Performances Amidst Fierce Competition

The Bucs were represented by a formidable lineup of athletes, each bringing their A-game to one of the season's most challenging races. Senior Sarah Plant led the charge for ETSU, finishing 45th overall with a commendable time of 1:02:52. Notably, her performance on the 20-kilometer bike segment was outstanding, clocking in at 30:23, a time that matched the day's champion, Naomi Ruff from Arizona State.

Close on her heels were teammates Delaney Hammill and Julia Visgueiro, who finished 48th and 49th respectively. Hammill excelled in the swim with a swift 10:01, while Visgueiro pushed through the 5K run segment in 19:28, marking her as ETSU's fastest runner of the day.
