Empowering Change: Lakeshore Women's Triathlon's Impact and Future Plans
As the autumn leaves start to turn, it's a reflective time for many of us, including the vibrant community around the Lakeshore Women's Triathlon. It's been nearly four months since the energy and excitement of the 2024 race, and what a journey it has been!
This year, thanks to the collective spirit and dedication of participants and volunteers alike, we managed to raise an impressive $13,500. These funds didn't just represent a number; they translated into real, impactful support for our community. We extended a helping hand to several local organizations that are pillars in ensuring the safety and success of our event:
- The Bruce Shrine Club received $1,000 for their vigilant eyes on the bike course.
- The Saugeen Shores Lifesaving Club and Blue Water Rescue, our guardians in the water, also received $1,000 each.
- St. John Ambulance, which provided invaluable first aid services, was supported with $500.
But our commitment didn't stop at ensuring a safe race. We also made significant donations to organizations that work tirelessly for the welfare of women and children in our area:
- The Kabaeshiwim Respite Women's Shelter and the Women's House Serving Bruce and Grey each received $5,000, funds that will help them continue their crucial work.
These contributions were made possible by every stride taken, every pedal pushed, and every stroke swum in the waters off Port Elgin Main Beach. So, to each one of you who was part of this year's race—whether you were behind the scenes, cheering on the sidelines, or racing against the clock—thank you. Your involvement is what turns our efforts into meaningful outcomes.
Looking Ahead to 2025
With eyes now set on the future, we're excited to announce that the next Lakeshore Women's Triathlon will take place on July 19, 2025. The first wave of racers will hit the start line at 8:30 a.m., once again at the scenic Port Elgin Main Beach. Mark your calendars because registration kicks off on February 1, 2025!
We're also on the lookout for enthusiastic volunteers to help us make the 2025 race even more successful. Volunteer recruitment will begin in the spring, so if you're keen to contribute, keep an eye out for updates.
We've taken your feedback to heart and are in the process of updating our website to make sure you have all the information you need, exactly when you need it. Stay tuned for these enhancements, designed to improve your experience, whether you're racing, supporting, or both.
Your Impact Echoes Beyond the Finish Line
Every drop of sweat and every cheer not only propels our racers forward but also weaves a stronger community fabric. Your participation fuels change and nurtures hope in countless lives. So, as we gear up for another year of training, racing, and giving back, remember that this isn't just about triathlon—it's about transformation.
