Fun in the Sun at Oregon Kids Triathlon

Fun in the Sun at Oregon Kids Triathlon

On a bright and energetic Saturday morning, the streets of downtown Oregon buzzed with excitement and anticipation. The Oregon Kids Triathlon, a cherished local event since 2006, unfolded on Brook Street, drawing in over 500 young athletes from across southern Wisconsin and beyond. This event isn't just about who swims the fastest, cycles the hardest, or runs the quickest; it's about instilling a love for multisport activities, fostering self-confidence, and above all, having a blast while being active.

The triathlon offered various age divisions, ensuring that every child had a chance to participate comfortably and safely. Among the enthusiastic participants were Nolan Zwieg and Maverick McAteer, who competed fiercely in the 5-8 Year Old Males division. Nolan, with determination in his eyes, managed to edge past Maverick, securing the 10th place.

In the 13-14 Year Old Females division, the competition was just as fierce. Alaina Wahler from Rockford, IL, clinched the 1st place, followed by Brynn Udovich from Oconomowoc. The local crowd cheered as Stella Guetzlaff from Oregon took home the 3rd place, with Devyn Eagan from Fitchburg and Madison Cooley from Madison rounding out the top five.

Not to be outdone, the 11-12 Year Old Males division saw Tanner Cole from De Forest take the top spot. He was closely followed by Clayton Jones from Oregon and Elliott Hallmark from Waukesha, who displayed remarkable endurance and skill.

The event was more than a competition; it was a celebration of youth and fitness. Friends Kai Stevens and Grace Smith, both 10, exemplified the spirit of the event by crossing the finish line hand in hand, a testament to the camaraderie and the supportive atmosphere fostered by such community events.

Photographs captured by Eddie Brognano highlighted these memorable moments, showcasing the pure joy and determination on the faces of these young triathletes. As they tested the purity of their medals, like Tessa Williamson and Caitlyn Becker, it was clear that these medals were more than just awards; they were symbols of hard work, dedication, and the fun of participating.

The Oregon Kids Triathlon continues to be a beacon of positive energy, encouraging children to embrace a healthy lifestyle and discover the joys of triathlon. It's a reminder that in the race of life, it's not just about reaching the finish line first but about the lessons, friendships, and memories we gather along the way. Here's to many more years of fun in the sun at the Oregon Kids Triathlon, where every child is a winner, and every moment is a step towards a healthier, happier life.
